About Cora Period Underwear
Cora makes a variety of period products including 100% organic tampons and reusable cups, discs, and period underwear. Their period underwear are mostly cotton reusable underwear that hold up to 3-4 regular tampons of liquid.
You can find Cora Period Underwear at Amazon and Target.
My Honest Review of Cora Period Underwear
I use the Cora Reusable Period Underwear in the Bikini Style found here, and this is the style that I’ll now be reviewing. I am about 5’6” and weigh 140 pounds, and I wear a size S.
I really like the Cora brand because they are made of 95% cotton, and contain no toxic chemicals, PFAS, or azo dyes. They perform very well; keep reading for more details.
How I Use Cora Period Underwear
The Cora Period Underwear in bikini style is a regular absorbency level, and I have found that these are very adequate for my first day of my period which is also my heaviest day. I usually am able to wear one pair the whole day, although there are some cases where I change it once per day, especially in cases where I am going somewhere and don’t want to leak at all.
Reviewing Absorbency, Smell, Risk of Leakage, and Comfort Level
- Absorbency: In the past I would use about 3-4 super absorbency tampons per day. I am now able to replace these 3-4 tampons with one pair of Cora Period Underwear. While they claim to absorb 3-4 regular tampons, I actually think they can absorb up 3-4 super tampons in my experience. I wear one pair the whole day, which is actually pretty exceptional when I compare the Cora Period Underwear to other brands like Thinx.
- Smell: Cora is very good at not smelling. They are about the equivalent to if I was wearing a pad, but they definitely have better smell performance than other brands of period underwear that I’ve used. I think because these are made of mostly cotton and wick away the liquid for a dry feeling, the smell is more manageable and less strong.
- Risk of Leakage: I haven’t had any issues with leakage with Cora, and that hasn’t been the case with other brands. The Cora Period Underwear have wider coverage in the crotch area, and are a bit thicker on the sides to prevent leakage. I feel very comfortable wearing my Cora Period Underwear out in public with pants.
- Comfort Level: It does get some used to wearing period underwear. It’s the equivalent to wearing a full coverage pad. They are definitely padded from front to back which is probably the only negative as it can feel like wearing a diaper, and needs some getting used to. However, at the same time, it’s necessary so that it fully absorbs my period without leaking. The rest of the underwear is very similar to any other type of underwear. They are bikini style so they are mid-rise. See the image below of my Cora underwear.
Are Cora Period Underwear Worth the Cost?
Cora Period Underwear costs $24.99, and I think they are definitely worth the cost because they are reusable, and I have already been wearing them for a few period cycles now, and they are still in great shape. I’ve entirely replaced buying tampons and pads with reusable period underwear.
How I Wash My Cora Period Underwear
It’s very easy to wash my Cora Period Underwear. After I wear them, I will rinse them out in the sink, and wring out the blood it collected. I do this before I wash them in the washing machine in cold water. I just put them in my normal clothing load to wash and dry, and they are good to go for the next time I need them.
Who I Recommend Cora Period Underwear For
In general, I would recommend Cora Period Underwear mostly for wearing at home or for casual outings like running errands. I think period underwear is a bit too thick to wear under work clothes, and I’d be a bit too nervous to try wearing them under a dress in case of leaks.
I highly recommend the Cora Period Underwear for anyone looking for reusable, mid-rise, cotton period underwear. Because of their high absorbency I recommend this style for heavier days.
